Macmillan Coffee Morning

Thank You for Your Generous Support!

Dear Parents,

We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the incredible turnout and support at our Macmillan Coffee Morning! Your generous donations, enthusiasm, and community spirit helped make the event a wonderful success.

Thanks to your kindness, we were able to raise £500, all of which will go directly towards supporting the vital work Macmillan Cancer Support does for individuals and families affected by cancer.

We are so lucky to have such a supportive and caring parent community, and this event has highlighted the strength of our collective effort. Together, we are making a meaningful impact.

Once again, thank you for your generosity and for making this event one to remember. We look forward to more opportunities to come together in the future!

CAFOD Assembly

On Wednesday 7th of February 2024, we had a CAFOD Assembly which was led by Gillie Drinkwater. She shared with us the good work done by CAFOD all over the world to fight global poverty. Children in OLOG are committed to supporting this great cause and we will be doing a Lenten Walk  to raise money which is in line with our school values- friendship, love, cooperation and courage.

Remembrance Day November 2023

To mark Remembrance Day, pupils were invited to pause for a two-minute silence, and reflect on the service and sacrifices the Armed Forces make on our behalf.  Thank you for your donations which will be collected by members of Royal British Legion. 100% of the profits from the Poppy Shop go towards funding the Legion’s ongoing work in supporting the Armed Forces community, serving and ex-serving personnel and their families. This is what pupils had to say about Remembrance Day.

CAFOD - Assembly 17th November

We were very lucky to have Gillie Drinkall visit our school again today.  She held two assemblies for KS1 and KS2 which told us all about fundraising for CAFOD.  After the assembly we found out what children thought was important about this special visit.

MacMillan Coffee Morning

On Thursday 28th September, Year 6, hosted our annual Macmillan Coffee Morning. Right now, more than 3 million people are living with cancer in the UK. By 2030, this figure will rise to 4 million. MacMillan works to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can by providing physical, financial, and emotional support.

Over the past year, members of our school community have been directly impacted by cancer, so this coffee morning held an even bigger place in our hearts. The morning was a great success, thanks to all the wonderful parents and families who donated cakes, and we raised a total of £176. The cake donations were so awesome that we were able to hold an impromptu cake sale after school.

BIG LENT WALK FOR CAFOD

This Lent CAFOD is supporting families with the skills and tools they’ve asked for to overcome poverty. On Monday 27th February 2023, we were excited to welcome Gillie Drinkall from CAFOD who came to tell us all about this year’s fundraising focus. This half term, Our Lady of Grace, we will be holding our own Big Lent Walk in support of this campaign. Leading up to Easter, we will be walking once a week for 15 minutes as a whole school. Here is what the children thought of The CAFOD assembly:

Lilo Year 6 (Mini Vinnie) - “I learned about the impact of climate change and the work that CAFOD is doing this year.  I was surprised to learn that floods affect Bangladesh so severely.”

Fire Year 5 (Mini Vinnie) - “I was shocked to learn that so many places in our work do not have adequate healthcare”

Maxima in Year 6 has worked closely with our Mini-Vinnies to create this fantastic poster for this year’s cause.  Let’s get fundraising!

WALK FOR LENT

Year 6 St Teresa have already started the OLOG Walk for Lent!  We are excited to raise funds for such an important cause.  It is our aim to help CAFOD to provide resources for those who need it the most.  Friends and family are all welcome to sponsor our pupils.
