Sports Events 2018-19
The Daily Mile!
What a great start to the day!
The whole school, staff and parents too, joined in the first every Daily Mile Day to help set a London record for the most children doing the daily mile at the same time.
Being active helps in the following ways:
- active children are more alert - they are more able to concentrate, stay on task in class and make good choices about their behaviour
- active children are happier - they have improved self-esteem, reduced anxiety and increased confidence
- Activity improves bone health and muscle strength, as well as improving fitness and a reduction in body fat
Despite the heat, everyone really enjoyed taking part and we saw some really good runners.
Thank you to everyone who helped and joined us - maybe we can make this a regular event!
Swimming Gala
Congratulations to the Our Lady of Grace swimming team for making the school proud once again. The children took part in the Greenwich Schools Swimming Gala and we were delighted to bring home 1 gold, 1 silver and 9 bronze medals! Such a great result meant the School came 3rd overall in the small schools category.
Well done to Nina, Joshua, Jakub, Jesse, Andrei, Alex, Kenye, Travis and Mateusz for representing our School.
Basketball
Our Lady of Grace took a team of boys to the Basketball Tournament at St Paul's Academy.
The boys showed great energy and skill in all games finishing with a loss in the quarter final. Well done boys!
Sports Hall Athletics
Children from Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 took part in the Sports Hall Athletics Tournament at St Paul's Academy and over the course of 2 events, there were more than 200 pupils took part.
Pupils at Our Lady of Grace really put their all into the different events and this certainly paid off - we came 1st out of 10 Schools with 83pts. Well done to all the children who took part - what an achievement!
Football Tournament
Our Lady of Grace boys and girls football team entered into a 5-a-side tournament at St Paul's Academy. They showed great skills and determination in all 3 games with some great play from Helena and some great goals scored by Alex from Year 5.
Well done to all the children.
