Trip to Charlton House

12th November 2024

Our Year 5 pupils had an exciting visit to Charlton House, where they explored history through hands-on activities and an immersive tour. They began in the Jenkins Room, enjoyed a packed lunch, then dressed in costumes to feel like Victorians for the day.

Guided by Kate, the children explored the house, completed activity sheets, and played traditional Victorian games. They also participated in object-handling sessions and a Victorian dance, getting a true feel for life in that era. The trip concluded with a walk around the gardens, before students changed out of their costumes, returning with plenty of new historical knowledge and memories.

CAFOD Visit to Our Lady of Grace

Monday 11th November 2024 Today, our children had the privilege of a visit from a CAFOD volunteer, Gillie Drinkall, who spoke with them about Catholic Social Teaching and the incredible work CAFOD does to brighten the lives of people in developing countries like the Democratic Republic of Congo. The children learned inspiring stories of people who have transformed their lives by acquiring skills that offer sustainable livelihoods—such as carpentry, sewing, and mushroom farming. Through this visit, our children gained a deeper understanding of how skill-building can empower individuals and communities to overcome challenges and create a better future for themselves. It was a valuable experience that reinforced the importance of compassion, resilience, and global solidarity.
